A Day At The Bay

One day plein air workshop in Bristol, Rhode Island

Saturday, October 12th, 2024, 9am - 5pm

$200

I’m SO EXCITED to offer a one day workshop painting in one of the quaintest and loveliest towns in Rhode Island. We will gather at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island for a one day plein air workshop on Saturday, October 12th. I have reserved a large pavilion where we can set up a homebase with our materials, etc. We will have access to the pavilion throughout the day in case of rain. But we will be venturing out into this beautiful park that is surrounded on all sides by water views of the Narragansett Bay and marshy fields. There are large fields and groves of trees throughout the park, which will most likely be displaying all their autumn colors. We are minutes away from the delightful Bristol downtown with vibrant shops, delicious restaurants, and ample New England charm.

I will begin the day with discussion about my process, as well as a painting demo. Then there will be time for you to sketch and paint and receive feedback. We will take a break for lunch midday. You can venture into town or enjoy a picnic lunch under our pavilion or somewhere else in the park. We can go as a group, as well, if people would like to take the time to talk art over lunch.

We will reconvene for the afternoon session under the pavilion. I will do another demo and answer questions. Then you will again have the afternoon for painting and receiving feedback. We will plan to end the workshop at 5:00pm, but I often stay to paint a little longer. The sun will set at 6:00pm that day, so the light is bound to be amazing! You are welcome to stay and paint together or you can pack up and head home or out to eat!

I hope you will join me for a wonderful day of painting and learning!

This workshop is geared toward anyone from the seasoned beginner to professional artists. My approach is very simple and is focused on basic principles rather than a lot of technical gymnastics, so all skill levels can gain something from the workshop.

If you cancel your registration before July 1st I can refund you the full cost of the workshop. After July 1st I will not be able to offer a refund unless I am able to fill your spot. I need to be sure I have time to fill the spots before the workshop! Thank you for your understanding!
