I am joining with renowned artist, J. Kirk Richards to teach a fall workshop at the Artist Common location in Belchertown, Massachusetts. I will be teaching three days, in the afternoons, while Kirk will be teaching three days in the mornings. The first and last days of the workshop will be devoted to visiting some wonderful Massachusetts museums. Click this link to visit the Artist Common website where you can read about the schedule for the workshop as well as where you can reserve your spot! If you sign up before August 15th you get a discount.
I’m offering a workshop to paint the rural towns of Tiverton and Little Compton with me! I’m really excited to offer an opportunity to gather with other artists in such a picturesque part of my little state.
We will begin the day meeting at a local cafe in the quaint Tiverton Four Corners shopping area. After introductions and double checking all of our supplies we will venture off to a nearby nature preserve to paint. I will offer a demo for about 30 minutes to an hour. Then we will create several on-site sketches and work from these and from life. I will paint alongside, offering instruction and answering questions.
We will break for lunch between 1 and 2. After an hour of eating and exploring the Four Corners area of Tiverton we will get back to painting. From around 3 until 5 we will paint at a new location (possibly the beach). Afterward we will have a brief group critique and discussion.
I really hope we will be able to have a productive day with lovely weather, beautiful views, good company, and lots of painting.
The main focus of this workshop will be to search for shape and value in the landscape as we compose our design. Also, we will discuss color mixing as well as paint application techniques. I hope to explore how being relaxed and fearless in creating art can make a big impact in our finished paintings.
I am currently opening this up to 5 participants! If the interest is greater that number may change. I hope to see you there!
